PLT upcoming Activities:
The annual Qing Ming Festival will arrive on April 5th this year. According to Chinese culture and custom, typical activities that are traditionally held during this period of time include tomb sweeping and trimming, family outings, carrying willow branches for protection from evil spirits, flying kites and playing swings, etc. The holiday is especially observed by the family gatherings to express thankfulness and pay sincere respects to their ancestors and the deceased by offering foods, incense, flowers and joss paper accessories as well as the cleaning of the grave sites. Those who for certain reasons are unable to tend to the grave sites will generally hold special tributes through local temples or altars.
To celebrate the birthday of Guanyin Bodhisattva ("Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva") and to commemorate the Qing Ming, a heritage in remembrance of the past ancestors, Purple Lotus Temple will hold a Guanyin Bodhisattva Qing Ming Festival Bardo Deliverance and Blessing Ceremony on Saturday the April 3rd, starting at 8:00pm. Through the blessings and purification of the Merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva, may everyone experience the greatest compassion, obtain prosperity and attain all wishes! And may all souls and spirits of our departed ones be free from the bondages of endless bitterness, raise up to better realms and be delivered to the Pureland!
In recognition of the recent economic recession and the financial pressures most Californians have been experiencing, Purple Lotus Temple will also hold a special session of Privithi Earth Deva Blessing Enhancement Ceremony on April 3rd at 4:00pm. Please come join us for this auspicious event. Free dinner meals will be served on the day of ceremonies while special Year-Charms for protection and gifts for good luck will also be offered to all attendees.
